Africa is at the centre stage of the world as South Africa hosts the 2010 World Cup. Share your thoughts, observations and experiences on the highs and lows of the event: the overall organisation, security, your favourite teams, your favourite players, who you think will win the competition, which African team(s) will get to the knock out stages, etc.

This is a proud moment for Africa! South Africa has been magnanimous enough to call this an African world cup. I watched a bit of the opening concert...well done SA! All the best to SA as they  encounter Mexico in the opening match. Let the games begin!

I think South Africa played very well in their match against Mexico, especially in the 2nd half. It is a pity they did not win... they did themselves and Africa proud. Super Eagles of Nigeria, it is now your turn!

Gan, the Nigerian team did not disappoint...again, they played as if they were on holidays - nothing at stake! Were it not for the superlative goalkeeper, it could have been a massacre! Well done Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire, you guys played well...with some bite.

Found out what this child thinks about the Super Eagles of Nigeria:

Judge to child: Do you want to live with your mother?

Child:No

Judge: Why?

 Child: She beats me.

Judge:Okay, so you want to live with dad?

Child:No

 Judge: Why not?

Child: He beats me too.

Judge: So who do you want to live with?

Child: SUPER EAGLES!

Judge: WHY??

Child: They never beat anyone!

Well done to Ghana! You have done yourselves and Africa proud. The prayer is that African teams will learn how to and be eager to 'finish' (in other words, score) in future competitions. Amen.

Ghana vs USA - incredible! This is one country that at least keeps flying the flag for Africa. Great work in qualifying for the quarter finals.

I'm glad that Boateng decided (just a month before the world cup), to represent Ghana instead of Germany. Hopefully, he will be rewarded with a new signing deal after the world cup.

Keep it up Ghana. If you keep on, hopefully you can go all the way to the semi-finals.

The Ghanians were extremely honourable in their exit. Even though they are now out of the World Cup, I think the Ghanian team are, unarguably, the best African team at the moment. The confidence and the drive with which they play, including their finishing, is worth emulating by other African teams. Ghana thoroughly deserved to win their quarter final game, but for the very immoral handball by the Uruguay player...shame on Luiz Suarez....I hear he is even boasting about his handball disgrace and comparing it to Maradona's 'hand of god'! Unfortunately, even the very best of players lose penalties...remember Roberto Baggio, etc etc, etc...the list will take all day to write! Gyan, hold your head high...overall, you played well in the competition, and even took and scored the first goal in the penalty shoot out! Ghana, you guys have done very well. I salute you all. The best is yet to come!

I must say that the people and nation of South Africa have done the whole continent proud. Amidst all the doubt and scepticism, Africa hosted a very successful and record breaking (in many ways) FIFA World Cup. This is a proud moment for the continent. Let's sustain it!
