I’ve just registered, what do I do now?
Firstly, welcome to Afroterminal!!!
A good place to start is setting up your profile:
1) Click on the ‘People’ tab, and select the ‘Profile’ link (top left).
2) Here, select ‘Edit Profile’ to add/ change general, social, professional and contact details (Tip: Use your full name, so that your friends can easily find you on the site. You can edit your name, using ‘Edit Profile’).
3) Use the ‘Search Profile’ link to search for old and new contacts - view their profiles and/ or add them as friends.
4) Don’t forget to invite friends in this area as well – you can import friends email addresses from your address book in Yahoo!, Hotmail, Gmail, etc. Don’t worry, this is safe! We don’t store these email addresses, or any of your passwords.
5) Also, you can upload your profile photo, using the ‘Upload Photo’ function.
6) Your personal profile page (accessible through ‘View My Profile’) is the page that details your info and your interests (allowing other members to get to know you better) and where they (members) can comment on your wall, see what you’ve been up to, etc. You may restrict who can view this page by editing your privacy settings: click on ‘Profile’ and then ‘Settings’.

Ah, this is one of the best things about Afroterminal! There are many ways to do this:
1) Add friends/ Invite friends: please see above on how to do this.
2) Join a group. To do this, go to the ‘People’ tab and click on ‘Groups’. Select a category of your choice, browse and join. You may, however, need the group creator to approve your request to join a group. Don’t forget, you can also create your own groups and determine how others can participate.
3) Events. Tell others and be informed about upcoming personal and public events (occasions, seminars, holiday trips, etc) here.
4) Chat room. Meet other users/ friends and catch up, real time, here. Visit the ‘Lounge’ and other chat rooms via the ‘People’ tab (click on ‘chat’, login and you’re in!). You may also enter this room via the ‘Live Chat Room’ link at the top right of all pages. It’s up to you, you may want to create a private chat room and invite select friends.
Please note, any inappropriate behaviour will result in the ejection of that user from the chat room and from Afroterminal. If you have a complaint about a user’s behaviour in the chat rooms, please feedback using the ‘Contact Us’ form (you can find the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of all the pages).
5) Messaging. You can send and receive mails to and from individuals or groups. To do this, go to the ‘People’ tab, and click on ‘Messaging’.
6) Business Associate Network (BAN). If you are business-minded, then you may want to be a part of the Business Associate Network. Features of the Business Associate Network will include offline business networking events.
7) Forum. Join a forum via the ‘People’ tab (click on ‘Forum’). Wide ranging discussions, across several categories (sports, politics, finances, lifestyle, etc), can be found here. Start a new topic and add your voice to several other on-going debates.
